<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>The list for E-5/6 2BR housing was over 2 years long at Fort Irwin. I never did get it. Instead, we enjoyed the 45 mile ride to work and the 45 miles home. That was the town of Barstow. I only survived the 3 years of driving on practically zero sleep because I was a youngster.

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>We never waited. Either we immediately moved into housing (within a couple of weeks) or we never put our names on the list. We hated moving so much, we never would have done yet another move while at a duty station, just to get into post housing.

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>We only lived on-base in 2 places... 1) Mannheim, Germany- before we had kids for a 2 bedroom was maybe a week once I applied. 2) JBER- 2 weeks for a 4 bedroom that was brand new. I think we got pretty lucky on both counts.
