I get my associates in psych this spring and plan on transferring to acquire my bachelors in counseling unless the position opens up. I miss the lifestyle and want to actually go this route, yet feel like it could be a lost cause due to this apparently being a rare MOS. What moves should I be making to ensure I get this opportunity? How long of a wait would it be for 68X to open up to me? 2022-01-03T18:14:21-05:00 PV2 Private RallyPoint Member 7456233

I've been out for a year due to medical and plan on reenlisting as active duty once I get my degree in psych, but don't want to have to put up the mediocrity of artillery again since I'm already classed. Then, when you go thru MEPS and get cleared and then go pick a job, you pick it if it's available. But, you'd be falling under PS business rules. Again, talk to a Recruiter to start this ball Response by MSG Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 3 at 2022 6:48 PM 2022-01-03T18:48:48-05:00 2022-01-03T18:48:48-05:00 SGM Jeff Mccloud 7456320

What is your RE code?
Do you want to go Active or Guard/Reserve?

Active is what you are qualified for out of what is available the day you are at MEPS.
Guard and Reserve is much easier to pick an MOS you qualify for, depending on how far you want to drive every month. Plus, if you're prior service, there are additional guidelines on which MOS's you'll be offered. What’s retention saying to you? I’m a 68X now and I have had people say they’ve been waiting a long while for a slot to open for them to reclass. I have a degree BA inPsychology but may I recommend you look at your degree in Social work and get a commission. Very similar course work and you can get a commission to work in a medical counseling platform. You can always sign up for an open 68x slot and get that training but unless you have a PHD then you will get to do basic lever intake and introductory counseling. Happy to give you more info of the potential of the position as I pushed it thru it’s limits so I don’t want to discourage. I just want to make sure what you wanting to achieve is ultimately going to be what you get Response by SSG Doug Morrison made Feb 8 at 2022 6:22 PM 2022-02-08T18:22:25-05:00 2022-02-08T18:22:25-05:00 2022-01-03T18:14:21-05:00
