How long was your longest duty assignment to one particular position? Mine was 3.5 years as a Battalion Commander. My time was extended for an Iraq deployment. I converted the Battalion from a Group to a Battalion, activated the Battalion, deployed the Headquarters, shed the Peace Trace and picked up the War Trace, led the War Trace, redeployed the War Trace, gained the Peace Trace back and changed command. My Peace Trace was 700 in 5 states. My War Trace was 1,200 from 8 units. Everyone came home without major injury and zero KIA. Most challenging of my assignments. So...what was your longest duty assignment to one particular job?

It will be almost 7 years when I retire...unheard of in the officer nurse corps.....and PAINFUL for me.....I wanted to leave 2 years ago.

Mine was four years at CMWC, I was supposed to retire in 2001 then the Adm picked me up as his FPO post 9/11, I was stop losted in 2002 offered O-4 to stay in 2004 finally retired in 2006 but only because of BRAC and the realignment of our command to San Diego. Still great times and would have stayed forever but I was a single parent and felt a SWOs place was at sea.

24 months in Company Command, 95th Maint Co (TMDE). That is pretty long for an AD Company Command..

24 months in Garrison Command, Picatinny Arsenal. Standard AD BN Command duration.

I stayed at HQ US Air Forces Europe (USAFE) for 4 years in the mid '80's. My tasks included planning and deploying the initial Cruise Missile bases in Europe, and managing secure storage capability program of "special assets" for NATO air forces. All of that led to my involvement in the Intermediate-range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty signed by Presidents Reagan and Gorbachev in the years following my time in Europe.

My longest was 4.5 years as a project manager at Ft. Monmouth. It was a major systems program designated as a Defense Enterprise Program and I was scheduled to stay through specific testing and production milestones. The strategy worked - we came in on time and on budget.
