Mine was 3.5 years as a Battalion Commander. My time was extended for an Iraq deployment. I converted the Battalion from a Group to a Battalion, activated the Battalion, deployed the Headquarters, shed the Peace Trace and picked up the War Trace, led the War Trace, redeployed the War Trace, gained the Peace Trace back and changed command. My Peace Trace was 700 in 5 states. My War Trace was 1,200 from 8 units. Everyone came home without major injury and zero KIA. Most challenging of my assignments. Still great times and would have stayed forever but I was a single parent and felt a SWOs place was at sea.
