How long will it take to make rank back after an article 15?

I am a PFC and have 1 year 8 months TIS and 8 months TIG and I have recently gotten an article 15. Its been 2 weeks since then and I haven’t received the paperwork for it so I’m unsure of the exact disciplinary actions that will take place but I have been told that I will most likely get 45 days, pay reduced, and loss of rank. I don’t know how many tanks I’ll lose whether it be to PV2 or fuzzy but that is my concern. I don’t mind the extra duty or the reduced pay. I’m just wondering how long it will take to make it back to PFC and onward to specialist. Before all of this I was being looked at to waiver but because of this I won’t.

Start the clock over from the day you lose the rank. Pretty simple. If you turn yourself around and work amazingly and stuff you may be eligible for a waiver. But it's back to the 6 months as an E2, 1 year as a PFC

Based on what you wrote, if you received and Article 15 with rank reduction, then your DOR would have started that day and you would been reduced to PV2 that very day. If it has been two weeks since the reading/administering of the Article 15 but you haven't been reduced, then chances are your loss of rank has been suspended. Which means that you need to keep your nose clean until the Article 15 period is over. Same with the Restrictions, loss of pay and extra duty. Have you stood in front of your Commander to have the Article 15 read to you, yet?

I am not going to speculate as to why action has not been taken as of yet, kind of unusual. Bottom line is that you start over with TIG, TIS continues. Stay straight, outwork everyone else and you can come back, you are young.

If you are reduced your TIG starts over at zero on the date of reduction and you will not be eligible for waivers.

Don't worry about it, a private is a private. Focus on not committing the same violation again that earned you that article 15. Be a soldier, follow orders, and be on time at your appointed place of duty. If you're lucky, hopefully you can deploy to Afghanistan or Iraq and then you can shine bright again. But in garrison. Suck it up buttercup.

Your time in grade resets when you get new rank regardless if you go up or down. Time in grade requirements for promotions remain the same.

There is a lot of really good info already posted. There are a few factors that can only be dealt with by your commander, depending on what you are being recommended and ART-15 for will weigh heavily on your punishment. Also you past duty performance and record of issues in your unit will come to play. if you are truly lucky and have been a supper troop up until this oops you may get suspended punishment depending on what the charges is. If you do walk on water don't even fart in formation and you can work your way out of this. If you do get the ART-15 and all punishment is enacted it will be a steep hill to climb just to get back to where you were let alone move forward. But it can be done, as someone who has first hand knowledge about the consequences of UCMJ action for myself and many other troops, you can do this if you really want to. Some of my best leaders rode the rank rollercoaster going through the ranks, we all make mistakes its what we do after that defines our character and our ability to fight our way back, Good luck.

Ok, 1, Sounds like a Field Grade Art 15- (Bn Level) Company Cdrs can do by 14,14. 2, It can take several weeks as JAG and Bde have to review it. 3t. You had 8 Months TIG, as soon as it comes back you will be at ZERO.. Field Grade 15 can take 2 stripes, which could make you an E1, which means you will ETS as an E2/E3 if you are lucky. Forget waivers, count yourself lucky if they lift the bar to re-enlistment before your ETS.

Has your NCO helped you with this AR-15 as a soldier you have rights. Understand that you have specific rights as a soldier.

Have you appeared in front of your Commander? Have you asked for what rights you have as a soldier?

I am not condoning what you did or asking you to buck the system. All I am telling you is your NCO should be able to guide you through this and stand with you as you are explained your rights as a soldier.

Learn from this moving forward, write down a plan that will detail what you will do to improve. Ask your leadership to help you accomplish your plan. Be the soldier willing to help others. Go above and beyond to volunteer and be the soldier who wants to learn.

Your TIS still counts, your Time in Grade however resets and means nothing.
Basically it is like this. You get notified you have an Art-15. You are counseled on this and sent to JAG. JAG apprises you of your rights and their recommendations. They send you back to your unit. Sometime shortly after, your commander reads you the Article 15 and makes his or her determination as to your punishment(s). For anything below a field grade Art-15 you only lose one rank. Your time starts ticking towards PFC on the date that the Art-15 is read to you.

I don't have the reg accessible to me right now but the minimum amount of time between E-2 and E-3 is listed. Bear in mind that is a MINIMUM amount of time and that promotions after the minimum are at commanders discretion so you could go longer than that.
