@RDML Ann Duff My husband died christmas eve 2019, almost 6 months ago. We have a 15 year old. I submitted a DIC to NOLA regional VA Office with his death certificate. We are in need of support, especially during this time of global pandemic. i received two letters of communication from the office of Survivors Benefits saying that you are still processing....Is there anything further that the VA needs from me to expedite this process for me and our child? i have called your office but there is no answer.....

Teresa R Skipper thank you so much for the condolences. And I feel so honored for your comments. I’m still reeling from my husband’s death...He left me a long time ago with the dementia however I wasn’t ready for the tremendous sadness.....with God’s grace everything is alright for me and our children.....God’s speed

My husband passed away in Feb 2017 and I believe I received assistance by May of that year! I was surprised as I expected a longer wait. Especially since he died during a separation not initiated by me. Basically we were somewhat forced by CPS to have him leave the home or I would have my young son removed from the home because his s PTSD as well as alcohol abuse was considered a danger! Of course I had to do what CPS asked and comply with much heartache! They both needed me! I was heartbroken! My son his stepson since the age of 2, was denied DIC because we were not in the same home at the time of his death! Even though a restraining order was listed for the both of us my son and myself, my son was not considered his dependant . He was added to his award at one time but we were both later removed due to his hurt feelings I am sure! Anyhow if anyone can do anything let me know
