How many have attended, or are currently attending, the University of Phoenix?

I received my Bachelors in Project Management and am currently enrolled in their MBA program.

I chose UoP because it was 1 night a week, for 5 weeks, and I could still receive my full BAH for my GI bill.

How many people on RP have had a good,bad or indifferent experience with UoP.

I'm generally suspicious of for-profit universities. That said I have no personal expereince in it. Unless it's too far gone you might consider UNC's MBA@UNC online MBA, it's top ranked and your certificate just says "MBA, UNC Kenan-Flagler" which is pretty nice too.

Back in the day UoP was the only way a working person could get a degree. All the colleges wanted a "normal business hours" schedule and if you went nights it would take many, many years to get thru the program.
My UoP credits transferred seamless into Law school and the Masters program in other schools.
The head of the Accounting Dept at the Junior College I taught at had a UoP Masters.

MBA in 5 weeks? Sounds to good to be true. My MBA program was considered accelerated and was 18 months twice a week for 4 hours.

I have had staff who got their Master's level degrees at UoP. Every bit as academically prepared and those with Master's from most "normal" schools. UoP will never compare with a "name" school, but neither will 99.9 of brick & mortar schools.

5 week terms seems really short - assuming 1 class at a time?

The school takes a lot of heat as a "for profit" university.

That's because they take business away from "non-profit" universities that have more money than most countries.

For those looking for other alternatives, check out Bellevue University in Bellevue, NE. They offer courses completely online as well as in-class for those near Offutt. They are extremely military friendly and probably one of the best universities I've ever dealt with. Also, one of the least expensive when it comes to a Masters. It's worth a look for those who are searching.

I have been off and on at UoP working around study periods for promotions and new UGT. I did the online school and it has worked well for me and I have learned a lot. Like the military it is what you make of it so if you don't help facilitate the conversations to get others experiences I dont think a person would get the full experience and complete product. My experience involved having to take charge in many of our team assignments and make sure to be clear on who is doing what or it was a struggle and I had to pick up some slack, as far as the MBA I would expect to see similar situations but would hope for more active students also. No issues from them on my end; only thing I disliked was trying to learn IT from a book and no practical exercises-but that's easily remedied using onlne tools.

My wife has a AS & BS from Phoenix. She shifted to Penn State for her Master's.

No real issues on her end in regards to the services offered.

I am a graduate of the University of Phoenix. Hands down, the best education out there. My professors were/are experts in their fields. I am grateful to all of them. However, at the doctoral level, students must be able to self-motivate and gain outside resources to help them to be successful. Is this different than brick and mortar colleges or universities? My opinion is, No. Thank you.

I graduated with a BS in Information Technology back in 2003 at the Jacksonville, FL campuses. I used TA while on Active Duty attending nights. I was already in the IT field and could have taught a couple of the classes. They would not let me waive any classes even though I had a Microsoft MCSE certification. Back then you had to meet twice a week, once in class and once in small group for the team projects. Two months before graduation, they started allowing online small group meetings.

I went with UoP for the same reason. Sort of...it was because it was 5 weeks a piece in the middle of rapid deployment, I was able to continue my classes for the most part always and I was NOT going to take 5 years to get my degree like I did with my AA. I was successful, only two programs offered it to me and it was UoP and one other one at the time and I liked the way that UoP worked and others were doing it and they had good results so I went that route..

Do you get the full BAH if you do the once a week (5 week course) on campus?
