India has a wealth of historical realities making the Country a great place to research about and to reside in. The very truth is that the fight for independence of India is such a beautiful story to read about and numerous Bollywood blockbusters have been essayed depicting true stories on the Partition of India; epics include Razi, Ghazi, Pinjar and Kaalank, just to name a few. However, the British Crown departed India following ___ massacres across India that severely taxed the Crown and India became a burden on the monarchy.

The stories about the "death trains" has always stuck in my mind, the train loads of refugees during the Partition in 1947 that would be intercepted by another group (Hindu, Muslim, or Sikh) and massacred. Then the engine would be stoked up and started, and a train with a thousand or more corpses would chug across the landscape until the fire burnt out. Haunting, like something out of Sergio Leone.

There are many such stories, because the British Crown played a deadly divide and conquer game to expand their reaches. In 1914, the British Raj meet in Shimla for talks on boundaries and China attended as Observer, but refused to engage in signing this Agreement between Tibet and India. China then, attacks Tibet and runs its ruler His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama. After the Panchen Lamas identify and choose the 15th Dalai Lama to become the Holi Tibetan Buddhist Leader, China kidnaps this chosen one leaving no trace behind. China wants to chose the next Dalai Lama, which is against the tradition of selection and induction of the Dalai Lama by the Panchen Lama institution. China wants Ladakh, which is in the Crown of India. China uses the 1914 Shimla Accords, in which it refused to sign as Observers, to suggest today that it didn't agree to boundaries set forth by India. China also claims to reject the boundaries drawn by the British Raj. Similarly, during the British Raj over India the British incited several massacres across India; from the North West Frontier Province (NWFP) to the North East Frontier Agency (NEFA). There were the Nagpur riots, the Canpur (Kanpur) riots to the Bengal uprising, to name a few. How many massacres took place during the British Raj leading to India's independence and sadly, its Partition?

The understanding of the Indian and Pakistani pains and sufferings by the western countries, without direct intervention, will help both hemispheres cling together into a well knitted social network across seas, without prejudice of any kind. Presently, there is still a stigma attached to India that it is a poverty-ridden nation filled with crimes and inhuman behavior, which is largely fictitious. It is fictitious because India is a recognized global economy and a very helpful friend too.

CPT Gurinder (Gene) Rana - Agreed (again). Have worked @ a number of Silicon Valley companies and some of the best and brightest folks were from India and Pakistan. Benefit of working in the Valley was having people from around the world on the *same* team.
