Active Duty: How many months must you have remaining before ETS in order to be pinned E-5? I’ve skimmed through the AR but haven’t found an answer.. a link would be awesome if possible. Thanks in advanced!

There’s no time frame from what I’ve seen. I’ve personally worked with an individual who pinned E5 and ETSed a month later

Don't know, but I was told I wouldn't get my 5 if I didn't reup, with several months before my ETS date.

There is no SRR to pin E5

I believe they dropped the SRR for pin on to SGT and SSG in 2017, unless something has changed since then.

I picked up my SGT like, 2 weeks before I went terminal in the Marines and we just pushed a dude through the board like a month before he was supposed to EAS

I believe the only time promotion and remaining time in service is an issue is near retirement. To retire at the promoted pay grade, you needed two years service.

Don't know if there are any stipulations now, but in 1971 I was promoted to E5 - Sgt after 14 months in the Army. Got my papers at 18 months with 4 months back pay. EETA at 20 months. Joined the reserves a couple years later At same rank.

I was given "Acting Sgt. E-5" stripes in Nov. 1970 in Vietnam over Supply...I received it in May 1971 just 2 months before E.T.S. in July 1971.
