I live on 25 acres in rural Tn. Why? People tend to piss me off.
Just read the news or live in an apartment, people are selfish assholes.

all I wanted growing up was out of the small town I lived in.
Now all I want to do is find a small town to live in. Just not the one I grew up in...

You sound exactly like me! LOL I was 89 lbs, and short.. 5'3" my last year of highschool.. had not even started puberty yet. I graduated that year, a year early just to get away and go active duty U.S. Navy where I ended up doing very well.... and growing 12" the first year and hitting puberty.. not fun let me tell you.

I was always picked on so I could not wait to get out of the small town I grew up although we lived rural then too.. My school was even located in the middle of the rural area and still is there in use today.

fast forward and I too knew when I came home for good in 2014, I had to live in a place I belong... and I do.

Sounds like me, Major. I work 90 days on, 90 off. By the end of the 90 on, I want nothing more than to be off. By the end of the 90 off, I just wanna go back to work lol.

90 days without work?? wow, I can barely handle 9. I gotta be busy but I don't like the crowds anymore.

Im at a happy medium... Im on 12 acres, outside city limits and the nearest city has a population of 1,230 people. and only recently got a street signal light a few years ago.
But I have Fort Hood and the surrounding cities of Killeen, Harker Heights, Copperas cove and others only 22 min away from my front door. So Im far enough away to not be bothered, and close enough that when i need supplies or a overpriced coffee I can get it in just a few minutes.

Makes sense.. I chose to be away even from many conveniences because my wife and I also decided we wanted to stop eating corporate food and eat grown in our own place fresh foods again.. Wow what a difference.. between taste and even the huge adjustment our bodies went through as it purged all the store bought chemical crap in those foods.

We also wanted to be self sufficient in all ways mainly because we are worried about what may be coming... The current path this country is on, I have my doubts it can be changed or done fast enough to keep things from collapsing big time.

All it will take is one event and we will see a collapse economically the likes most of us cannot imagine.. I figure I keep life, house, car and health insurance 'just in case'... why not do the same with food, supplies and gear too? Being out here allows us to do that on our own terms.
