How many of you enjoy bringing your kid or kids to work with you ?

Every now and then my daughter would tell me, Daddy can I come in to work with you ? Not sure about any of you out there, but it sure makes me feel good when my daughter asks me if she can come to work with me :) !!!

We never really get to bring them to work but we do have get togethers where we bring them and all eat so thats fun.

My son asks almost daily for me to take him in and let him look at the Chinooks. He could probably spend 8 hours just hanging out in the back of one running around (he's 4) if I let him.

When I was recruiting, I would bring my daughter into the office sometimes. I always had a box of toys for folks that brought their kids in with them, and I made sure there was something my daughter would like to play with in there just in case. Unfortunately, since I am an Intelligence Officer, I can't bring her to work unless it's for a promotion or something like that. She would be bored out of her mind if she did come to work anyways... and she would lose her image of me being like James Bond... 'cause that's what we do in MI :D

My 17 yr old son did an internship at USACEHR this last summer via SEAP. Did a summer at WRAIR before that in the GEMS program. If you all don't know about the options for your kids, PM me and I'll bring you up to speed. We as military have benefits that can really help our kids.

My son (3 in Dec), loves to come in and see "Army trucks". Day to day ops are boring, but if I stop in on an off day to drop off or pick something up I bring him.

While I was active duty, really enjoyed bringing my kids to work. So many interesting and cool things for them to see and do.

Now as a civilian, it is just a pain in the neck. I cannot get any work done as my job is mostly reading and typing.

My 4 year old daughter LOVES coming to battle assembly! She loves seeing and talking to all the Soldiers in the unit and seeing all the equipment we carry. She is always asking to go to the "Army."

You hit the nail on the head , I just love it when one of my firls ask me to take them to work .
Fortunatly I do have the type of employer & job that allows this wonderful event to take place.

SFC Velasquez, if you can take her then I say you should do it. My situation was a little unique or maybe the unit personnel were I don't know. I traveled from 8+ hours away to my unit and most times I took my son because I had no where to leave him. At first I used the family assistance program at a nearby post because they had a babysitting network. When members of the unit found out, they offered to have my son stay with them and on a few occasions I took him to the unit with me. He had a great experience there sometimes the armorer or motorpool SGTs would take him and show him their areas, later they taught different things regarding their areas. Once when I was in meetings the S3 Maj carried him around telling everyone he belonged to him. One day when my day began at 4 am with meetings (it was family day at the unit also) I took him in and at the end of the day, when we were leaving he got in the back seat and laid down, then he sat up and said, "Thank you Mom". I said, "For what?". He said, "For taking me to work with you." It had been an exhausting day for him and I was surprised to hear him say this. My son is a teen now and has many of these soldiers as Facebook friends. He refers to them as "Our Army Family".

my daughter loves to go to work with her daddy and "see the guys". I never had the chance to take her I separated before she was born.

When I was at Langley AFB from autumn ‘80 - to Winter of ‘84-85 before it became Eustis Langley in early ‘90s(?).. There was a group of civ kids(not dependents that were asking to be adopted for a day so they could be part of career day on base, I had to check the protocol and I did that.. I had 7th grade young man who had interest in joining the AF.. His mom came with him and she was entertained out in the dining area by a staff clerk while her son worked with me getting an entree and support item prepped.. which I believed was a sauce .. I guided him through proper knife skills and making the sauce using a flour n buttter roux and some drippings and beef base to enhance the flavor .. He did a good job .. too bad he was too young to join then.

Makes me feel good too when my daughter comes over to my work, then having lunch with her. One day I'll be dead and gone, and she'll look back and SMILE.
