Once off of active duty, I went to college and finished my degree in less than 4 years. I was so focused on getting things done that I overloaded myself every semester. Most 18-, 19-year olds won't do that and just wasted money being in school longer than they need to. Because I did it this way, I was able to go after my masters with a little GI Bill money left over and then got a 12-month extension to use post 9/11 GI Bill to finish my masters. So, the fact that I did it after being in the military, I was a lot more successful in school.
