Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act: Leosa

The Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA) is a United States federal law, enacted in 2004, that allows two classes of persons - the "qualified law enforcement officer" and the "qualified retired or separated law enforcement officer" - to carry a concealed firearm in any jurisdiction in the United States or United States Territories, regardless of state or local laws, with certain exceptions.

Ok...the date I signed up my DD214 says I spent 10 yrs in...the farther down says I only spent 9 yrs 8 months...which will they say qualifies me for my leosa

I got to ets on terminal leave...had enough leave saved up...plus I had broken my back...wasn't able to deploy anywhere

I just applied as I did not know they had this program. I asked the National FOP years ago and they said they did not have an answer to that question about retired MPs. Hopefully it wont take too long for mine to come back, if it does!

I'm going to HIJACK this thread for a min since I cant find the one I started about 2 years ago:

There were some MP brothers in gun adverse states ie Hawaii that were told by the local police chief they could not have weapons......the courts have ruled that the local police chief can't make that call if you are issued the credentials they have to honor them

Maybe someone can give me some insight. I served as a 95B (31B) for almost six years before separation (Honorable Discharge after stop-loss). I then went on to serve as a civilian LEO for almost seven additional years. Would I qualify for LEOSA certification?
