I've noticed we've got a lot of Harley and Motorcycle riding veterans, retirees, and active duty personnel here on RallyPoint.

Sounds good did Sturgis last year so I am good on that for a while. Arkansas and Oklahoma is fun. Carolina/ Virginia is good as well.

Rallypoint Members that have responded so far. This time of year in the mountains is quite a bit cooler for sure ! Ruidoso, New mexico is great. I am In Texas and it is really Hot this time of year.

I'd love to attend but I'm tossing my hat into the ring for a civilian job within the next few months. My availability would really depend on where I land in that regard as well as where you guys settle on for the ride. I'm still near Fort Hood for the moment and riding the Hill Country is pretty nice, though I really prefer lots of mountainous terrain for cornering and scenery when I am out for a pleasure ride.

Across two weeks last year, from early to mid-September, I put this little bike on both sides of the continent and stood on the shore at Daytona Beach, FL and Ruby Beach, WA. I plan to do it again with a bigger bike when I have the time as that ride was about the experience of going coast to coast on a smaller bike with nothing I couldn't carry in a backpack. This one's a V-Star 650 Custom which I got for daily transportation to and from post while I was still on active duty.

Okay RallyPoint Members I'm getting a lot of positive feedback and it looks like early August 2016 is winning out for the date, now I need some location recommendations that would allow for anyone in the United States to participate in this first ever RallyPoint Rally and Ride. Keep in mind I will be riding all the way from Oceanside, CA (no problem) - I'm going to provide a couple of suggestions here along with pictures and I hope you all will particiapte with some ideas as well. My first Suggestion would be Sturgis and we could meet at a certian location there and spend a couple days outside of Strugis - your thoughts?

HERE IS A POSSIBLE SCENARIO:

August 8th - 14th, 2016(76th Annual Sturgis Rally)

August 5, 2016 travel day (FROM ALL LOCATIONS)
August 6, 2016 travel day (FROM ALL LOCATIONS)
August 7, 2016 everyone meets in Gillette, WY (make your own accommodations) others can stay where they like around Sturgis, SD – plan a ride around the Sturgis area, avoid Sturgis on Day 1 – Visit Crazy Horse
August 8, 2016 – ride the Needle and visit Mount Rushmore
August 9, 2016 – Plan a day downtown Sturgis – MEET THAT NIGHT FOR DINNER, PHOTOS, AND CELEBRATION FOR THE FIRST RALLYPOINT MEET AND GREET!
August 10, 2016 – travel home (BACK TO ALL LOCATIONS)

Since I am blessed in living my final years of life in Big Sky Country: Montana. The ride you will enjoy more then any other is the Beartooth Highway. I could try, but honestly have 2 vacations planned this year. The first starts next week, doing this vacation all on the bike, starting in Paso Robles, CA, going to Los Angeles for 3 days, Dodger Game, El Cids in Hollywood for Spanish Paella and Flaminco Dancing show, sight see the beaches etc; then its off to Las Vegas for 3 days, Staying in New York, New York on the strip, riding with Army friends to places like Mt. Charleston, Red Rock and Canyons of the Fire, catch a couple of Vegas shows and buffets; then were ending in West World of Scottsdale for the 2016 Arizona Bike Week for 5 days of pure motorcycle rally fun and concerts. Later in August, planning on going back to Sturgis, this time we are staying there for 8 days. Then my last week of vacation will be in October, doing a week at Camp Pendleton's San Onofre Beach Resort, where we are also having my Moms 70th Birthday Party. I'm also planning on joining a number of Army Rangers from Fort Lewis, WA who plan on attending the Rolling Thunder West (motorcycle event) in Riverside, CA. I will link up with them somewhere south of San Francisco and ride with them to Riverside on Memorial Day Weekend. Hopefully we will see you there Colonel Burroughs.

Depending on the numbers, I can host a stop up here in Northern Idaho. August is prime riding weather. Have to prep for a wedding on the property for early SEP though. Have about 5 acres of pasture and spare bathrooms. I don't ride but know good riding groups are some of the most decent people on earth.

I have been banned from two or even three wheel. Four years ago I nearly paid the utimate riding price and I am still paying. For now I am in a Cage only. Anytime there is a riding event if cages are not welcome then I must pass and I totally understand.

The US gov't, in all of it's might and power has reaped my driver's license, due to an experimental surgery that has made me seizure prone.

Johnny and I are planning a trip to Harrison MO for a week. Not sure when, but we could add this meet and greet to our trip. Check out this link, each ride is about 300 miles and sees different attractions/sites. We usually trailer one bike (mine) just so we have a vehicle and trailer if a bike breaks down, but once settled in central spot we are up for however far anyone wants to go!Hope this is still in the works!

Stugis is out..too crazy. Pierre is a pretty nice town with a lot of nice scenery in all directions.
Many good smooth safe state and,county roads in all directions.. Pierre itself, is big enough and as the capital it has a great many decent motels.

To be honest I’d really like to meet somewhere but Sturgis is not on my list of “must attend” rallys. I’ve been once in the mid 80s and thought it was too crowded, too expensive, no place to stay and really not worth my time. There were real bikers, part time bikers, good bikers, bad bikers, new bikers, drunk bikers, topless bikers, asshole bikers and rich urban bikers (RUBs) who showed up in $300,000 RVs pulling their Chrome Queen Harleys. I don’t camp or bivouac anymore and I quit drinking 30+ years ago.

That being said, I would certainly consider meeting somewhere else.
