I'd prefer less politics and more military. Posts dealing with issues regarding the President's role as the CinC and/or addressing national security issues cross into both lanes, so they'd be more than acceptable.

I really try to stay away from the political threads now. Burned me out bad before and I took a long hiatus from RP. I'll participate if it's historical and fact based, but the recent events are tainted too much to partake in right now.
Is why I try to post military related posts. Some of them have a shade of politics in them, but mostly because some firm of politics made whatever I'm posting about happen.

I don't mind politics as long as the discussions stay civil. And as long as we can get both side of story. The name calling really has to stop . We need to respect each other's opinion on any issue about politics. When the name calling starts I usually leave the discussion because I know it will turn ugly .

Like it or not- politics affects the military/veterans. Our opinions will differ, we won't always agree- that's ok. But I think as long as we have a forum such as RP that is diverse, and isn't "narrowed" it will be a lot more enjoyable. Debate is good for the soul, it opens your eyes to different ways of thinking- it broadens your horizons.

I'd be fine with less politics, but I wouldn't want to limit it to just military stuff. I learn computer stuff here. I learn about fishing, hunting, living in other countries (outside the mil), etc. There's no end of neat things I learn here, and it's usually good information, coming from people I trust understand where I'm coming from.

I don't mind political discussion. I avoid inflammatory topics that cross the line, such as overthrowing the POTUS, or other like topics.

being a force multiplier, as a civilian politics are prevalent, at work and socially. I know I have beliefs in politics and not everyone sees things the same way, so it helps to converse with others that are similar or complete opposite. sharing ideas even opposing ones, adjust political beliefs and I think that's a good direction to go. the thing about politics that makes it frustrating is that B.S have a short lived half-life. in the service there was no political discussions and at the water-cooler there are. Politics are a part of the workplace. I think the political discussions help in understanding others view, whether it's strengthening or unraveling, this will effect the way you deal with others.

Agree, the politics tend to drive people away because of the emotion and some folks can't handle political discussions at a mature level without name calling or insulting.

I enjoy all of the diverse discussions from all topics that come up. I will say though that I miss the old RP format which had everything broken down into four parent categories so you could choose what kind of topics you were going to look through rather than scrolling through the mix and mash.

I like it all. I think if it was only limited to military topics there would be far fewer posts, posters, activity, interest etc. If you don't like some topics I think you can screen them out of your feed. I don't, I get it all and bypass the topics on which I have less knowledge or experience.

I do not mind some political post but the last month it has been nothing but political post and most are nothing but fake new and crap. It seems some posters are in a race to see who can post the most stuff and pay little heed to content etc.

Personally I don't care either way. Whether we are talking about our favorite base to be stationed, who we voted for, or who's going to win the Super Bowl, I am here primarily to converse with my fellow service members. I also prefer this over other forms of social media because for the most part we can all remain professional in the most heated of debates.

It is generally the same people who engage in the same political topics, usually some form of Trump worship or left bashing. Perhaps it makes them feel good to hear from other people who agree with them, and RP is the one of the few places they have the ability to do that from their couch. Sometimes, an opposing view sets off a firestorm of debate that can get out of hand. I agree, probably half of the topics that get posted here daily fit into that category. Personally, I am selective of what I respond to and how I do it. It doesn't bother me to have political topics, as with any other, its up to me whether or not to engage or ignore it.

I don't care as long as it is intelligent and the person posting has actually tried to vet the information. Posting blog trash from either the left or right really pisses me off. While some people just want to talk about military stuff I find that most of the answers are from senior people that are either in or just got out. Really not that concerned about anything the 670-1 has to say after being out for 9 years.

I just avoid the political stuff, it's literally everywhere, in your face, all the time. I prefer to not get involved with it online anymore than I already have to everywhere else.

Both. In my opinion, the more informed we all are, civilians and military, the better of this country is. When the government hides so much from us what 'trust' should we place in it? Very little. The past 8 years has shown us how good we've been bent over and reamed. The government (for most of them) wants obedient workers. Smart enough to work jobs that keep this country going, but dumb enough to believe a lot of the BS they put out.
