As an example, when I was an 11b (infantry man) it was hard to get station in any cool place. Your best bet will be to get an MOS that can go any were (42A admin for example) or look for what is the dominant MOS at place you want to go and get it. You could always attempt to change your MOS or negotiate a duty station during your reenlistment.

Back in 2000 my time was up and since it was pre 911 I was offered nothing... so I got out went to college and joined the Army Reserves in the Reserves you have the benefit that you get to go we're ever you want and can switch as often as you want (generally every one to two years).
Response by MAJ Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 3 at 2013 2:19 PM 2013-11-03T14:19:56-05:00 2013-11-03T14:19:56-05:00 MSgt Private RallyPoint Member 2895

Look for the Joint Bases that are Army/Air Force or Air Force/Army; Langley-Eustis, Lewis-McChord, Elmendorf-Richardson, McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, JB San Antonio.
Most of those are run by the Air Force, so the way things are done might be a little different from what you're used to. From your MOS, I don't imagine it would be too difficult, but I'm not exactly an expert in how the Army assignment system works. :P

Justin
§
Response by MSgt Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 3 at 2013 2:30 PM 2013-11-03T14:30:35-05:00 2013-11-03T14:30:35-05:00 SFC James Baber 27043

I was stationed at Andrews AFB during the late 80s/early 90s when conducting drug interdiction missions in DC, while our parent unit was at Myers, we had all of our equipment and storage buildings and briefing facilities on Andrews, we even had some facilities on Bolling AFB for some southern DC missions. How to get there is a trick in itself. I put in for a compassionate reassignment and got an AFB. Some worked it out with branch after deployment or in order to retire. For officers it is easier. Most of the Joint Duty Assignment Listing Billets are on AFBs and officers need those billets to get their star. As a 68W there are AFB slots at
Scott AFB, IL USTRANSCOM Surgeon General and Patient Movement Requirements Centers, Have a 42A show you how to use FMSweb you can pull up any slot that exists filled or not and then filter it out by locations.
