How many times do you have to pass the APFT?

I leave to basic soon. I know you have to pas sit at basic and at AIT. Will I have to pass it more than that?

Throughout your career, you will be taking the physical fitness test. It does not stop at AIT.

The intent of the regulation is a Record APFT test every six months .

Good Grief kid, you will take an AFPT normally at least 2 x per year as long as you are in, and in some units, a hell of a lot more than that.

At a minimum of once a year, but more often like once every 6 months........and that is just for record. There are also diagnostic APFTs........which could happen almost whenever

Yes, twice a year, and every morning you'll have PT except for the weekend and holidays. It never stops not even when you're deployed.

Generally every six months you will take a PT test at your first duty station. At Campbell I took two in a span of three months to get everyone on the same date.

In basic you will take numerous PT tests and from my experience they start you off at 30 percent pass. So you only have to do 30 percent on each event and if you don't they'll recycle you for retraining.

To graduate I had to do 50 percent. In AIT you'll have two PT tests. One diagnostic (which is apart of getting phase V privileges) and then a record (which goes with you to your duty station) in order to leave AIT. These will both be graded at 60 percent. This was a year ago so I'm unsure if they changed the regulation.

But you will take numerous PT tests in your career. They aren't hard. Just do your best. When you hit that sweet sweet 22 age bracket you'll only have to do like 40 pushups and run a 1630 which is practically a ranger shuffle or a light jog the entire time. I have noticed that my PT score and a lot of others plateaus and then drops after AIT so make sure you do PT on your own and stay away from the Shopette taquitos.

I went through MP OSUT so the number of times you take an APFT may vary, but we took it 5 times. APFT 3 was the one you had to pass to continue to the AIT portion of OSUT (BCT standards – 50 points in each event at minimum). APFT 5 was the one that you had to pass to complete OSUT, and in order to pass this one and get outta TRADOC land you have to get at least 60 points in each event.

Yes, depends on if your active or reserves.
In basic you will take 3-4 PT Tests and AIT most likely the same deal. And then one when you get to your unit/duty station

Soldiers must take a record APFT every 6 months for RA and AGR Soldiers, and annually for all other USAR and ARNG Soldiers. (AR 350-1, Section II).

Noteworthy: Soldiers 55+ years of age have the option of taking the three-event APFT or an APFT using an alternate aerobic event, and Soldiers 60+ years of age have the option of not taking the APFT at all.

I hope I am interpreting this wrong and you are not asking what is the minimum requirements to be Soldier,,, you should be ready to take and do well an APFT at a moments notice. Train so you can get a 280 with pneumonia... whats that line from the Soldiers creed? stand ready to deploy....... how can you destroy the enemy with sub standard physical ability... again I hope I am wrong but like the others have said a minimum of twice a year the rest of your career.
