This was a USMC weapon so most of us Army types would not have been familiar with it. The Army gave up on Recoilless Rifles (RR) as an anti-tank weapon when we fielded the TOW in the early 70's. I would point out however that the RR lives on today in places like Afghanistan and Iraq where one of the issues our forces had to deal with were old East Block RR as well as newly manufactured Chinese RR with very lethal warheads. Not all the anti-armor we face is in the RPG family. Interesting pick and pic.

Sure is, SSG(P) Joshua DeGraw. Had one about 25 yards from my foxhole in Nam. I shot a 50cal. spotter round and could fire 1 or all 6 106mm at a time. You don't want to be behind it when it lets go! Powerful!!

SSG you have never seen one because it was a USMC weapon -- it was a pee bringer!

"Is that thing real???" Actually, I had never heard of it referred to by its "proper name", only as "The Thing".
