How much does a 72d make?

Hi, I was wondering how to figure out how much a 72d will get paid. Or if someone could tell me how much they get paid. We are having a hard time figuring out how much my boyfriend will get paid and are curious is what the recruiter told him is correct.

Oh, for the love of.....the pay is based on rank and time in service. There are, I belive, some AOCs that get a prorated pay. But I believe that usually involves being a doctor. All you need to do is google military pay charts. Your BF would either be commissioned as a 2LT (O-1) or 1LT (O-2). Then look at the pay scale for less than 2 years time in service. But to save time....Base Pay for O1 under 2 years is 3477.30/month and Base Pay for O2 under 2 years is 4006.50/month.

Fun fact, you can figure what anyone and everyone is making in entire U.S military. All of our pay charts for our base pay are posted to the public. You will always be able to know what you make, and what your Soldiers make, and what your boss makes, and anybody else.

I'm impressed with everyone here. The direction of this question opens up so many more avenues of approach in the responses. Mainly along the lines of "I really want to, but I know I shouldn't". So like many others, I don't.

Have you looked at a pay chart? It’s based off rank and year. MOS doesn’t factor in. Then after you have base pay figured out you can add anything else that applies like BAH, BAS, COLA and any extra duty pay. You also have added in entire such as hazardous duty and all that.

But all of this is something you can find online

Army Basic Pay

Basic Pay is the base salary for a Soldier on active duty and is part of total military income. It is electronically distributed on the 1st and 15th of every month and the amount depends on length of service as well as rank (most enlisted Soldiers enter the Army as a private).

This is fairly straightforward. Go to the Army website and look up the pay tables. If your boyfriend has a bachelors degree, then he will advance to E4 soon after basic training, so use E4 as your baseline. If no degree then use E2.

His monthly pay will be a combination of several types of pay. Some are taxable, some aren’t.
-Base pay is taxable
-Allowances are usually not taxable including housing allowance, separate rations, and uniform allowance.
-his MOS may be eligible for enlistment bonus or monthly incentive pay, taxable
-he might also get hazardous duty pay

Add up all the pay and bonuses, subtract 12% for federal tax, also look up and subtract % for Medicare and social security, also subtract state income tax if the state he will live in has state income tax on military pay. Then add the amount of allowances. That will give you the approximate amount of monthly pay. Divide by 2 if he’s paid twice a month.

You get paid like every other service member: pay chart. Google DFAS Pay Chart 2022. Goes by pay grade and time in service. Time in Service if you are brand new is in the less than 2 years bracket. Only interpretation is on what the entry grade will be. That is just base pay. Other allowances are conditions based. As an officer there is a choice between accepting on post housing or drawing Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) and secure a lease or buy a home downtown. In rare circumstances there may be a BOQ.

What grade did the recruiter tell your boy friend?

Also understand that until you two are married, there are no benefits that extend to you.
