How much does your Tinnitus affect your daily life?

I have read several articles suggesting Tinnitus is a leading factor in veteran suicide, but there does not seem to be any credible research to support that theory. How much does your Tinnitus affect your daily life?

Silence has a constant sound like a cymbal, I hear words incorrectly and miss parts of conversations, don't try and talk to me if there is background noise and I'm not looking at you because what you say won't be what I think you said.
So it effects my life daily 24 / 7. I'm used to it so it's not driving me batty , mildly annoying, sometimes embarrassing and occasionally comical but not making me want to suck start my .45..

Mine sound like a herd of crickets buzzing, Constantly. Distracting, screw up hearing, hard to relax, sleep.

I have both hearing loss and pulsating tinnitus, and my main accommodation is trying to sit to the left of whoever I am talking with, and using a Marsona sound conditioner to help me get to sleep and stay asleep.

I sleep extremely hard to drown out the constant ringing. When i'm really tired, it takes hours to get to sleep, because it tends to be louder the more tired i am. The VA has declined my claim.

Mine os intermittent. When it comes on, it is piercing, shrill, and overwhelms pretty much any sound. But it subsides after just a couple seconds, down to a background whistle, and then to nothing within a minute. So, overall, no serious impediment to life.
