How much education do you have? Is that as high as you want to go; as far as your education is concerned ?

I am an autodidact. I learn something new everyday. I will not stop learning until the day I die and, God willing, that in itself may be an education. I have accumulated plenty of degrees and professional certifications over more than seven decades of life. I believe that my self-study has taught me far more than all the scholastic and professional institutions I've attended both as a student and as a teacher.

I am very impressed, to say the least, with the scope of what your knowledge must be; CPT Jack Durish. I like the idea of death being an education; in and of itself. I certainly hope and pray so; Captain. Over seven decades of life, Captain, you must have accumulated a LOT of degrees. I am also very impressed with your seemingly endless thirst for knowledge; Sir.

SPC Margaret Higgins - My love of learning is so great that not even school could beat it out of me. I wrote a short story, a true story, about it

He didn't want to go to school. Nope. No way. No how. He wasn't afraid of school. That wasn't his problem, but maybe he should have been. Somehow he knew intuitively that he wouldn't be welcome...

CPT Jack Durish, I am touched: both by your wanting to share your story(ies) with me; and by your story. Thank You!!!

I am an oddball in modern society. I only have a High School Diploma and several technical certifications. I did complete 2 years of College towards a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance and German. I abhor and do not do well in a traditional classroom environment. I tend to get bored because the pace is too slow. Sometimes I even find that the instructor does not really know what they are talking about. This old saying applies to me: Tell me and I forget. Show me and I may remember. Let me do it and I know it for life.
On the other hand. I am big into self study. I try to soak up knowledge like a sponge. Very rarely, with a few exceptions, do I have to relearn something. It is only with Mathematics and the Thai language that give me fits. I do want to get at least a Bachelor's degree in something, but I do not know what at this time. Currently, I am looking for an Online University that will allow me to use my GI Bill and attend from Thailand.

SSgt Mark Lines Don't worry about your abhorring the classroom setting. So do I.
Two years toward a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance and German: is quite admirable.
I learned by doing, as we all did, in the Army. I love learning that way; as well.
I love your voracious appetite for learning- as evidenced by your self study. I have a lot of trouble with Math. I had to be tutored; in my university.
Good for you for wanted to attend an Online University. Many prayers, and Good Luck to you; Mark.

SPC Margaret Higgins - Thank you very much. I really do not know what I want to study. Since it is for my own gratification, I think something to do with history.

No wonder you do not do well in a classroom setting; SSgt Mark Lines you "abhor" classroom settings. I don't blame you. Two years towards a Bachelor's degree in Music Performance and German is quite admirable.
And, that's how I learned in the Army: by doing what was being taught. I agree with you: that is a Much better way to learn.
I admire you as well, for your voracious thirst for knowledge; evidenced by your self study.
Good luck and many prayers for finding a reputable Online University; that suits your needs.

I'm almost half way done with a Masters in IT Project Management. Once that is done, I will probably focus on upgrading my Security+ to a CISSP or equivalent. I'm also thinking about getting the PMI PBA certification, especially if I can maintaining my PMP allows me to maintain the PBA.
