How much lead time is required for USAR transfer from TPU to Retired Reserve?

I can't give you doctrine, but based on my experience with a reasonably efficient HHC Brigade level staff, I would allow at least 45 days for the clearing process..perhaps more this time of the year if there is AT/range/exercise planning going on. I bet your U/A or the S1 will know the specifics.

I have known of situations where a Soldier was allowed to do a block of RSTs to keep them from getting U's while they stop attending as they clear. But, this was a unit-level decision on a unique case.

Sir before I was transferred to the retired Reserve I was told a 6 month lead was required. They cut orders for me in 45 days. As stated below it depends on the work ethic of your command chain.

I suggest at least nine months out and draft your final end of service award and support forms. In my case I was picked up for a deployment after I had submitted for retirement.

It took me about 3 months, I filled the paper work out in May of 2015 and got my orders placing me in retired reserves first weekend in August 2015. But being a former UA I filled out all the forms so all my UA had to do was submit. I was lucky as well I got all my counselings etc that drill weekend in May.

If things work as they should, it should take approximately 15 days per echelon that the action has to pass though. Enough time for appropriate review and endorsement from the commander.
In practice, unless there is an issue of some sort, I have seen a pretty consistent turn around of 90 days with five echelons to pass through.
Medical, legal, or disability entanglements can lengthen the process quite a bit, however.

I was in the IRR. It took a week, once I found someone at HRC who knew the process. It took me 8 months to find that person.

When you retire from the Reserves- there is virtually no lead time needed, but if you are concerned about your paperwork being done properly and timely I would do it 2 months out- and stay on top of it until you get notice or get your orders.- Now if you're talking about actual retirement AT AGE 60- you should get the paperwork automatically about 6-9 months before your birthday if it hits 6 months, inquire. You should then have all your paperwork in 3 months out. you again will get confirmation and then the first of the month AFTER you turn 60 will be you official disbursement date for retirement checks.
