Is it because they did not go the easy route and back a John Boehner clone Kevin McCarthy. And instead are backing a possible leader they believe will be a better speaker, Daniel Webster. The big problem with both parties is there strict adherence to the estsablismet. Someone or group has to make a stand for what they believe is for the good of the country. Honestly, since McCarthy bailed I think the GOP might HAVE to cross the aisle. Look at the GOP field. No one is truly electable (I say that as an Independent). It will be interesting to see history made again over this. It's not power to lead or direct as much as power to disrupt. The worst part is they are doing so with GOP structural support. I suspect that if the Republican party wants to survive, it will need to purge the worst of them right before election time. Let them raise their own funds, build their own infrastructure and run as an independent. So, someone please tell me what is so bad about members of Congress sticking with their constituents desires? Isn't that what they are supposed to do? What ever became of the "Loyal Opposition"? There always has to be someone that tries to change the attitudes of Congress. Yesterday it was the Tea Party organizations. IMO, the reason we have all the problems today, foreign and domestic is the lack of standing on principles rather than going with whatever gets a committee assignment. Nothing worse that the word compromise, when our nations security is at risk.
