If you've been in 5 years and only just now made E-5, you will be making the same base pay as an E-5 with 5 years who was promoted much earlier than you. Were people messing with you, or are you messing around with people on here? Did you ask your first line? Hell, did you ask some of the PVT's in your unit? Money is somewhat important to me; I understood the pay chart before signing my initial contract. I look it up a couple times a month just to fantasize about where I could be at in the next few years/ towards the end of my career and calculate my retirement based on hypothetical situations. "C'mon, man! You know the thing!".

I am all for people asking questions if they should need help. If I realize that I could get a definitive answer quickly from someone with experience instead of spending hours of cross referencing different documents, I will do that. But, this answer could be found within seconds of a quick search. You spent more time typing out this question than it would take to find the answer, and that is why some folks are showing some tough love to ya.
