How much would a new E5 with 5 years in service make ?

i've asked people around about this and couldn't get a clear answer and idk if i can ask this question here but, i've been in for 5 years. 2.5 years as a SPC (yes i know thats a long time) and now i'm getting pinned SGT soon, would i get paid by time in service or pay goes by grade ?

If you check your LES, you will see that pay is dependent on both time in service and what pay grade you are. Your current BAS will not change.

Your pay is based on your pay grade and time in service. If you've been in 5 years and only just now made E-5, you will be making the same base pay as an E-5 with 5 years who was promoted much earlier than you.

honestly im sick of the higher ranking people on here giving people crap who just want to get a clear answer on things ....its getting annoying that i cant even ask a question i was confused about without getting shamed for it im over this website

SPC, have you considered looking at the DFAS Pay Tables? The answer is right there. Don't forget to factor in any allowances, taxes, or other issues.

You've asked people around and still couldn't give you a clear answer? Were people messing with you, or are you messing around with people on here? Did you ask your first line? Hell, did you ask some of the PVT's in your unit? Money is somewhat important to me; I understood the pay chart before signing my initial contract. I look it up a couple times a month just to fantasize about where I could be at in the next few years/ towards the end of my career and calculate my retirement based on hypothetical situations. "C'mon, man! You know the thing!".

I am all for people asking questions if they should need help. If I realize that I could get a definitive answer quickly from someone with experience instead of spending hours of cross referencing different documents, I will do that. But, this answer could be found within seconds of a quick search. You spent more time typing out this question than it would take to find the answer, and that is why some folks are showing some tough love to ya.
