Depends entirely on course load and fill dates. Late spring and summer fills are pretty heavy with split option Troops. What MOS and where are you scheduled for training.

CSM Richard StCyr - And got a follow up call, ....If the Soldier or you are a National Guard troop, then once you take the oath of enlistment drills are mandatory and paid, even if you haven't been to school yet. Has to do with the difference between Guard, Reserve and Active duty. Pretty interesting info.

Thanks CSM, I just found that out today. Recruiter also I formed me that I may not have to go to prior service BCT, and also that my guard unit has up to 2 years to send me to AIT after I check in with them. This guard stuff is kind of weird haha, but hey, whatever works I guess.

Cpl Jason Berry - It was interesting, the SGM was telling me that it has to do with the Guard still being considered militia from the days of old. Never to old a dog to learn new tricks.

CSM the National Guard must be a different cut, or rules changed, when I enlisted I was assigned a Reserve Unit and they didn’t even know I existed. I was lucky enough to work with another member of the Unit who asked if I was coming to Drill that weekend, I said Oh we have Drill? He responded no one called you yet? I said no I came home called the unit as ordered the UA took my information and said he will be in contact. I showed up and it was “Who Are You?”

I never knew there was a separate basic for prior service.

Yep, apparently if you have a break longer than 3 years then you're required to complete.

A former U.S.A.F. NCO attended BCT with me at Ft. Riley in 1961. He was a sharp troop & honored as "Trainee of the Cycle" (which got him a promotion to E-3).
