How’s does a National Guard drill weekend go?

This weekend I have ARNG drill and it’s my first time and I don’t know what to bring or even prepare for. I don’t know what to do or if there’s specific requirements on clothing. I need help ASAP!

Have you been in touch with your unit? My first drill weekend in the Reserves was a two day FTX. If I hadn't been in touch with the unit, I would not have been ready.

Call your recruiter he/she is going to have the information you need.

Have you been to BCT yet? If not, your first drill will probably be with your state's Recruit Sustainment Program (RSP).

If you can not get ahold of them, message me and I'll put you in touch with the state level folks...I dont think you will need to go that far,,,but it and contacts all the way to national guard bureau are available if needed.

Have your recruiter help you first and foremost. They likely know the training staff at that unit and the S-1 (the part of your unit that handles records including in-processing soldiers). At a minimum ask them to put you in touch with the S-1. Depending on the training this weekend, they might have you come in early and meet with the S-4 (supply) to make sure you have what they want you to have for the weekend.

As far as being personally ready, just remain quiet, watch and listen. This is probably your first exposure to the military and it will be confusing. Be prepared to show up in civilian clothes. Find out what the uniform is for the weekend and if it's PT's then wear appropriate work out clothing. If it's OCP's then wear appropriate work clothing, etc.

Depends on what type of unit you belong to, if they're training in the field this weekend, you'll want your T A 50 and spare uniform in case of mud.
