How should I compose an email to my assignment manager. I am about to be put on assignment and I would like to request fort Carson due to the career opportunities, my fiancé being stationed there, and family that is being located in Colorado.

Start by updating your ASK.
In your email, state what you want first - the intent of the email - and then a short description why. Your story is irrelevant and he has to read hundreds of emails a day, don't make him dig through your email to figure out what you want.
As one counselor used to tell me, "An email to HRC should be like a woman's skirt - short enough to keep your attention, but long enough to cover everything".

You are most likely not going to get anything from branch especially if you're straight out of school. What's your MOS? Are you coming out of AIT?

I just emailed my branch manager in Feb with what I wanted and guess what she told me? "Here are your three options:" and listed them. (Granted I have been in a joint unit for 3 1/2 years).

The only way you might get stationed there is for a compassionate reassignment and that has a LOT of criteria that goes with it.
