How should I handle my wife's high risk pregnancy and the travel costs associated with her care? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/how-should-i-handle-my-wife-s-high-risk-pregnancy-and-the-travel-costs-associated-with-her-care

My wife is currently pregnant and will be in a high risk pregnancy for the duration till full term. That is 7 months away. We have to travel 7 hours to get the pernitologist. They gave us a 3 day pass this time but the visits will be weekly sometimes even 2 days a week. This is all out of pocket due to her being on select. (There is no option to put her on prime due to the tone it would take to switch her over and get a preliminary scan then a new referral) just trying to figure out how I should go about this?. Switch to prime. There is medical TDY. Normally it is coordinated by the MTF. Go see a patient advocate with your squad leader. Sure, you would be separated, but she and the baby would be getting the necessary attention. If it helps your mindset, pretend you’ve been deployed (actually the opposite). At least this way, you can call every night, and she can visit you as your budget allows.

Good luck. Have you discussed all of your current updated issues with your senior enlisted cadre and/or chaplain yet? You need some people to have your back and be an advocate for you as much as possible. If your unit originally handled it as a one time thing they now need to know that it will be recurring.
