How should I prepare for 68P (Radiology Specialist) school?

I am reclassing to a 68P. I was wondering if anyone could help me out with stuff I should start studying now before I leave in October. What will AIT be like for reclass students? Will there be restrictive phases that you have to go through to get more privileges??

I'm currently in school for 68C, reclassed from 11B. If it's anything like what we did, soldiers that were reclassifying were given a "prior service" phase patch. Not too many restrictions, however in the TRADOC environment certain things can be banned based on TRADOC rules. For example, alcohol and tobacco were banned in phase I, but allowed in phase II. I hope that helps a little.

Hi Kendra,
If you are going a prior service, you shouldn't have to worry about phases.

You will not have any phases as you will be prior service. School is a lot of Anatomy, Physics and Ethics as well as some other classes. I would say Just look up some basic anatomy and you should be fine. if you need anything else feel free to ask

I reclassed as a Sergeant from the Infantry to 68P back in 2007. Back then prior-service were treated completely different and kept separate from the rest of "the kids." I do not know what it is like today as so much as changed since then. Hopefully you will be spared of the different phases of basic training.
As far as the academics go, I fully agree with the commentary below about studying basic anatomy. If you have already taken an A&P college class you will be fine. Once you get there take your academics seriously, study daily and you'll be fine. That's what I did and I somehow managed to earn a spot on the honor graduates list.
Career advice for as soon as you graduate: as soon as possible meet the prerequisites challenge and pass your national registry through the American Registry for Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), after that earn your Expert Field Medical badge (EFMB). These are the things that helped me the most with earning rank and progressing quickly in my career in this MOS. Then try to find a balance between hospital and field assignments (that will be hard). If you find yourself in a field unit, ensure you practice x-ray even if you have to volunteer through a local hospital to do it.

The most difficult part for you will be finding someone to study with. There are very strict policies about prior service spending time with other AIT students. Hopefully your class has another prior service member. Quizlet is your friend. Like someone else already stated, lots of anatomy, some simple formulas, and physics.
