How should soldiers show customs and courtesies to the Marines (or any other branch)? How exactly do we address ranks and proper greetings?

Address officers the same "sir or ma'am"
Address enlisted Marines by their rank "staff sergeant, master sergeant, or master gunnery sergeant"
Or you can just offer them crayons.

Every time I've seen a Marine who wasn't an E5 called Sergeant they had their feelings hurt.
Just calling them "Marine" would be better. If they don't like that say "are you not proud to be a marine?"
At this point they will forget about what they were mad about before

Our gunnery sergeant was barely okay with shortening to "gunny." Some Army fella called him "sergeant" and got an earful - "Boyyyy, it's been a long damn doggone time since I was a ser'nt! What your name is, son!?"

The one Marine custom that I wish the Army would adopt is calling everyone by their proper rank.

Stay low, don't make eye contact and most likely they will let you live. :)
