How should the units change to improve property accountability?

For the ones that know that property is a pain (I know its my job). What can you suggest that we do about it? Improvements on current systems or even new ones that stream line them and will possible be money savers so we can have more money for training or even to improve other things in the army.

There are several systems in the pipeline. Property is a pain, but it's the Commander's fault.

First, property accountability cannot be just something that has to be done. It must be incorporated into the organizational METL, ART 4.x.x. Second, it needs to appear on the training calendar as a training event and not just a side task.

Property accountability is difficult because of the attitude that people take. Change the attitude and property accountability becomes just another METL training event.

I agree with CPT W,

Attitude is the number one problem, so reduce or eliminate that and most of the other issues will fall into place and be much more functional and efficient as they will be able to and allowed to work the way they were designed to and with ease.
