Your pay however will keep how many years you have all together. We have 2 E5’s that came over from NG who kept their rank.Response by SSG(P) Private RallyPoint Member made Oct 18 at 2018 10:59 AM2018-10-18T10:59:20-04:002018-10-18T10:59:20-04:00SSG(P) Private RallyPoint Member4055699<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Also, from what I was told, you’ll lose your E5 coming back in if you were out for more than 3years.Response by SSG(P) Private RallyPoint Member made Oct 18 at 2018 11:02 AM2018-10-18T11:02:29-04:002018-10-18T11:02:29-04:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member4055731<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Glad someone asked I plan on going AD once I ETS tooResponse by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Oct 18 at 2018 11:17 AM2018-10-18T11:17:59-04:002018-10-18T11:17:59-04:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member4055803<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>The rules for enlisted time in grade are found in AR 600-20 Army Command Policy under enlisted date of rank.Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Oct 18 at 2018 11:46 AM2018-10-18T11:46:17-04:002018-10-18T11:46:17-04:001SG Private RallyPoint Member4055866<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>See AR 600-8-19.<br />I ETSd AD once as a SSG. Was SSG in USAR for a couple of years. Reenlisted as SGT (no, would not let me reenlist as SSG, but your case may vary, just be prepared).<br />My DOR was adjusted to my former DOR as SGT, and adjusted forward. Only the active reserve time (about 2 weeks) counted.<br />For explanation here is a basic breakdown of how mine was calculated. Dates and times are for ease of explanation.<br />DOR for SGT (AD) was 1 JAN 2000.<br />ETS AD 1 JAN 2005, as SSG, immediately joined USAR, had 2 weeks active reserve (AT).<br />Reenlisted AD 1 JAN 2007 with DOR for SGT adjusted to 18 DEC 2001.<br />Regulation may have changed, which is why you should always verify it for yourself, rather than go by another's word.Response by 1SG Private RallyPoint Member made Oct 18 at 2018 12:04 PM2018-10-18T12:04:48-04:002018-10-18T12:04:48-04:00CPT Lawrence Cable4055878<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>You keep all your Time in Service, Active and Reserve, but your Time in Grade will reset to your new date of enlistment. Last time I checked, 8 months TIG with 4 months eligible for waiver, assuming that you have all the educational things done and no flags.Response by CPT Lawrence Cable made Oct 18 at 2018 12:08 PM2018-10-18T12:08:35-04:002018-10-18T12:08:35-04:00SPC(P) Private RallyPoint Member4056687<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Actually I'm in the same situation however I already went active duty with a dd form 368.
