CA blasted an email to all USAR officers. I replied back to them but I was not branch qualified at the time.

So yea you have to be full fledged branch qualified officer.

You can find historic Milper messages for 38G and see the details for yourself.

Basically the biggest hurdle is going to have a current medical across the board that is less than a year old,

Be branch qualified
Have good oers
Green across the board
Look up 38G vacancies for the specialization you can offer
Current commissioning medical less than a year old. Please allow me to shed some light on the 38G direct commission.
1. It seems to me that you are a TPU soldier already so, yes you might need to extend your current contract in order for the process to be completed.
2. Once you get to your new CA Unit. Let the BN CDR and CSM, that you are interested in a 38G commission they should be able to help you with the packet and give you a letter of endorsement not requiered, but it looks good.
3. The 38G packet looks at your education (Masters/professional degrees and employment experience) according to your post, you should be good to go.
4. The 38G selection process can take anywere between 6 months to 2 years, rank depends on level of educational degree and experience but on average 1LT-CPT, every now and than u see a field grade, but those are for doctors.
5. Differences between 38A and 38G is 38A's by regulation are the only ones considered for Command.
6. A recruiter will not be able to help you much, reach out to your new CA unit and ask for their retention NCO and he/she can help you. Additionally considere you still have to complete the 38B MOS, and also consider that CA will become an accession branch within the next 2yrs.
I hope this helps you, good luck to you!
