How to get out of a PCS or early reporting for pcs?

My wife wants to know how/if she can go about canceling orders that's less than two weeks out? she leaves for Korea for 1 year. I'm up for a rotation out of country sometime next year so that will have our kids separated and family separated for over two years.

Less than two weeks out and wants to try and get orders deleted? Yea.....she's gonna need some serious luck with that. She needs to talk to her Command and plead her case. But, if I were a betting man....I would say she shouldn't bother to unpack.

Unless she reenlisted for the assignment to Korea, there's no way out of a Korea assignment short of dying.

Without some sort of real emergency it will not happen. You are better served by developing a plan that is supported by the military and the regulations you appear to understand but failed to work through. Don’t waste anymore time.

You will have more luck talking to your CoC about remaining on Rear-D with your kids than she will have getting out of orders to Korea, especially at this short notice. I guarantee that the first question that will be asked is "do you have a Family Care Plan", which is what is supposed to kick in when these situations occur. The FCP is supposed to list who will care for your children in the event that both you and your wife are deployed, or both assigned overseas. Yes, it sucks that both of you will be separated from your kids for a year, but sometimes that is what happens with a dual-military couple.

Is there no joint- spouse tour you can do? I think the Air Force did accompanied tours in years past. I retired in 2010 so I am kind of out of the loop! Good Luck..

It is hard to get them resigned on the first place, with this short time is nearly impossible unless there is a really good reason. Remember, you developed a family care plan for this precise circumstances. Know is time to put it to work.

I know is not the answer you’re looking for but is reality.

Perhaps, as a last result, separation might be in place per AR 635-200; probably chapter 5-8.
