How to get proof of rank after getting out of mil?

My husband got out of the marines as an E4 but got a notification on his MOL (?) saying that he promoted to E5. He is going to meps this week to join the army but can't find proof of his promotion so his recruiter is using what's on his DD214. Where would he be able to find proof of promotion? His ebenefits page shows E5 and he sent his recruiter a screenshot of that but no word back so we're unsure if that will be enough.

His recruiter should contact the liaison to see if they can pull his record. Another thing he can do is go onto ebenefits and pull his record to see if it’s in there. Once he gets his record he can send it to his recruiter. Hopefully that helps

I wouldn't get my hopes up. I transferred to the ARNG from the USAF. I was E6 and was told the highest they could bring me back in as was E4. Had to take a voluntary reduction to get in.

If he wasn't promoted prior to his EAS, AND hadn't contracted to join a reserve unit he would have been administratively removed from the list.
Re: MCO P1400.32D. MMPR-2, May 11 2006 (may be a newer version).
He would need to obtain the orders, as there is no promotion unless there are orders.
Even with orders, that wouldn't guarantee being able to enlist as prior service in the Army as a SGT/E-5.

Your husband would have known if he was up for promotion. If this came through after separation it is not likely to be good. None the less he needs to ask for a records check as indicated by others and see what happens. Good luck.
