How to get selected to 1st SFG FSC?

Is there any way you can increase your chances to going to a Group? For example, I want to get attached to 1st SFG, in Fort Lewis. I’m an 88M. Just wanted to know the process to either request it or get selected.

There's no selection. There's absolutely nothing "special" about SFC support, you simply have to be qualified IAW AR 614-200. It's an assignment like any other that you request like a normal assignment

What I heard a lot has to do with the language you choose as one of the criteria for each group has a specific area of coverage.

Back when the 1st Grp arrived at Ft Lewis I met with the grp CSM and he wrote me an acceptance letter. I was going through the 525 repo depot and they said if I could get an acceptance letter they’d assign me. So I brought them the letter and they said “sorry all assignments were coming direct from DA” and they refused to honor the CSM’s letter. I ended up in the 4/23 Inf Rgt.

Yes. You can call your branch manager and ask. If it’s open you will get it

Go visit them...and ask them yourself.. I used to hang out.. train and live with SF from time to time... Always showing respect. Not wanting to be them..but learning.

That’s an assignamemt like any other. You need to work with your branch manager at HRC and see if s/he takes some sort of compassion with you; conventional forces trump SOS assignments most of the time for support MOSs. Not impossible, just need to work it.

Go speak to the CSM at the group level and ask for a letter of acceptance.

Check your requisitions on ASK....that's how I got assigned to 1st SFG(A), I volunteered. I was also at Bliss before coming to JBLM and Group.
