I don't know if it actually works, just something that I heard once or twice. I've found the biggest help is to wear your apron, unfortunately the issued apron sucks cause it's a half apron so you'll have to invest in your career field. Also keep a bleach pen with you it helps when your in the kitchen going at full speed and get a stain, as posted above oxyclean is good with your wash, don't use bleach it causes yellowing if you decide to use anyway go with color safe bleach. Last thing use your cleaners that your authorized most do a pretty good job of maintaining our cook whites. Hope this helped Spc. Meaning, wear your apron, as soon as you get a stain try and get it out immediately, also know that you can exchange them when they're too soiled. The other suggestions that were made, Oxy clean and bleach work wonders, and for tomato stains rub in table salt then us bleach or Oxy clean. My secret weapon is hydrogen peroxide, put it in a spray bottle and spray on stains as needed. At the end of the day once you get home or to your barracks or wherever, rub some dawn into the stains, then put your whites into a washing machine, bucket or whatever you have and let them soak for awhile. Soaking them helps loosen up the dirt/stains. Then wash as you normally would do. Never, let a dirty white uniform sit over night without washing. I wore Cook Whites daily for many years and this the routine that I always used. Back in the day it was much like a civillian uniform service, post laundry picked up the dirty ones & dropped off clean ones. It wasn't actually called the post laundry, they had another name that escapes me right now. SPC Leo Van Groll Mon, 20 Jan 2020 05:58:11 -0500 2020-01-20T05:58:11-05:00 2015-05-15T14:44:37-04:00
