How to proceed with a medical curtailment memo ?

Difference between medical curtailment and compassionate reassignment ? My doctor wrote a memo saying it’s required I get medically curtailed back to the states. My command isn’t really sure how to move forward with it.

It doesn't really matter what the difference is. Contact your branch manager with the memo and ask them how they want you to proceed, curtailment request or compassionate reassignment, and process it accordingly.

A compassionate reassignment would be to a specific location because your presence was necessary to resolve an issue. Curtailments, medical and otherwise, are a shortening of your overseas tour. Without knowing specifics, I am going to guess you should request a curtailment to an assignment that can meet your medical needs. If this pertains to a family member’s issue that happened while you were overseas, then you will need an EFMP packet with your request.
