How was your first Spartan race? Were there any memorable moments?

Many service members and veterans have signed up and conquered the Spartan Race. Those who have challenged the Spartan Sprint to those who were challenged by the Spartan Ultra. Rarer still are those who have been chosen to compete in the Spartan Death Race. What was your first Spartan Race? Have you done them since? What are your favorite memories?

My first Spartan Race was an Aloha Stadium Spartan Sprint - a prep race for the upcoming Spartan Trifecta Weekend (the first one ever). I was running with the elites and go turned around big time. Spent the rest of the race trying to catch up. I ran up and down more stairs than any time in my life combined. I was gassed by the time I crossed the finish line. Definitely gave me a small taste for what was to come.

Fast forward a few months and I challenged the Spartan Trifecta. Beast on Saturday then the Super and Sprint on Sunday. The Beast was the hardest 15 miles of my life. Mostly uphill - Hawaiian terrain. I lost my gummies and only had water for 15 miles. Cramping is an understatement. I finished in under 4 hours. The next day I ended up getting a Cat II sprain on my right ankle after dismounting off a wall the first mile in. 8 miles later I finished. The ankle was massive. I limped the 4 mile Sprint and eventually finished. In the end, I was tired, broken, and beat, but I had finished, conquered and achieved. I had never been more proud to call myself a Spartan. Best time of my life!

I did a Super a couple years back. I already had several halfs and full marathons under my belt and "thought" the sprint wasn't the right level....

Case of "eyes bigger than my stomach." Had a great time... lots of burpees.

I never competed in a Spartan race, ENS Private RallyPoint Member. The best I can offer is that I've completed Nasty Nick (SF obstacle course at Camp Mackall) more than once.
If you've competed in and completed a Spartan race, my hat's off to you!

ENS Private RallyPoint Member I have done 4 Spartan races and my first one was the one that hurt the most since I jumped straight into a Spartan beast. But I guess I love them so much since I want to do the 2 that will happen next February here in Arizona
