I am a SSG FA section chief and I have 6 years TIS I was notified of my selection for QMP process today. I have 2 NCOERs both were High Qualified so nothing bad there but I do have a company grade article 15 and am unsure how I was selected for QMP for this.

An article 15 can trigger one but I have never heard of a company grade one triggering one. This would be from the action. When I read the regulation on it it just states an Article 15. So that would be it. The QMP board is pretty aggressive when selecting those that qualify. You just have to go through the process. They are not trying to separate those that benefit the Army.

Thanks Sir, I called the contact listed in the memo or notification and she pretty much said the same thing, that it didn’t matter the level if the article 15 just the fact it was an adverse action /article 15 in general. Even with very good NCOERs and Deployments under my belt and Making E6 in 5 years she said i still have a 50/50 chance of being separated. I was confused on how a company grade could trigger that but now it makes sense. Unfortunate but makes sense.

Since Company Grade Article 15s stay at the Company, you should be fine just for that. The rub is going to be where in your Rating Period did you get the Article 15. Current or past rating period? If it's the current, then it will depend on how the NCOER is written. Personally, I think you should be fine.

The record of any Article 15 in the Army depends on the rank that the soldier at the time. If they are E-5 or over, it either goes on the restricted or Performance fiche. The reason that most NCO's would be given a Field Grade instead of a Company Grade is the inability to reduce the rank of anyone over E-4 at Company Level.

Yes I was a SSG already when I received the Company Grade, My Unit is actually surprised themselves that I got pulled for QMP because they tried to keep the punishment as minimal as possible.

SSG (Join to see) - The current QMP is after my time as S-1, haven't tried to keep up on those rules. However, I would consider a Company Grade Article 15 for an E-5/E-6 a slap on the hand, so I would be surprised that it would initiate any adverse actions. Good Luck.

How old is the Company grade and what it was for will impact the process. If your NCOERs are post the AR15 then the chances are less that you would be selected. If the AR15 is the most recent evaluation of your actions/performance there is a greater chance of selection.

May of 2021 for the Article 15 Fraternization with a soldier in a different bridage, I was an E5 at the time of the occurrence then I made E6 in November of last year and an investigation followed shortly after that lead to the Article 15. my Annual NCOER was just submitted July this year.

well that explains it, fraternization is a big deal in the army.
However during a quick google search I found a potential saving grace.
"Documents that can trigger a QMP screening must be based on performance or conduct that occurred during a Soldiers current grade. The Army does not reach back to events that occurred prior to the Soldier's most recent promotion."

Thats from an article by an Army lawyer from 2016, so maybe something has changed since then, but if it hasn't and he is correct then you shouldn't even be brought before QMP for this in the first place. Seek advice from your local legal assistance.
