I believe Memorial day is on 25 May this year, give me some help if I am off on the date. We will be heavily involved in a training exercise in Hohenfels.....what better way to honor those brave souls that sacrificed for us than by some realistic training to prepare us for our next fight.

By the way, yesterday was Holocaust Memorial Day

I would Like to go and put flags on the graves at the Arlington, National Cemetery just out side of Dallas. Have tried for the last few years and something always comes up. Year Before last the Wife and I went out to the local cemetery and bought flags ourselves and put them out on all the Vets Graves. Cost us over 200 dollars.

I'm not sure how I will spend Memorial Day. Usually myself and a group of guys I graduated with, and are also vets, get together at a restaurant. Our church always has a ceremony for Memorial Day and Veterans Day. One of my pet peeves is a civvie telling me Happy Memorial Day. There's nothing happy about it if you have a veteran buried. Another pet peeve is everything is open for business with " Happy Memorial Day" sales. I know I'm picky, but I'm proud of all who served and I show them respect.

i want to go see my cousin. its been five years since i watched them hand his flag to my aunt and uncle. and everyday i think of the last words i spoke to him. im hoping to just spend sometime with him for even 5 minutes.. just so i can talk and vent with him because i know hes still here listing to me and guiding me

Memorial Day is a day for the remembrance of those who paid the Ultimate sacrifice. I will go to the Sacramento Valley Veterans Cemetery and Share a Scotch with a Fallen Friend and then head to the VFW and share memories of those who are not still among us.

The same way I have for the past 2 years. Covering the Memorial Day Events at Charlotte Motor Speedway. They go all out every year and it is a great experience.

As Post Commander of our local VFW post, I will be organizing an early morning detail to place flags on the graves of Veteran's buried at Santa Clara cemetery in Oxnard, CA. There are 800 veterans buried there dating back to the Spanish American War.

Just walked through the National Cemetery reading the tombstones, the large trees gave me shelter from the sun, and the slight breeze cooled me. I noticed many older couple died within weeks of each other. Lot's of babies and mothers died in childbirth in the 1800s. A big tombstone with 19 names to include Native American scouts indicated they were ambushed and killed. Other large tombstones with multiple names were explained to me that they were aircraft crewmembers. There are many stories in a National Cemetery.

I'll be on Vero Beach, sucking up the rays and maybe a few beers. My family goes there every Memorial Day.

More than likely a Memorial Service with the VFW and then spending the day with family.

Not sure what we are doing this year, but the VFW does something every year on Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
