Why would the Marine Corps spend a very large sum of taxpayer money to train you and once you have had a little excitement, allow you to transfer to the Navy where you can gain the skills that you really want? Not going to happen because the military does not work that way. Instead you would join the Marine Corps for the minimum enlistment for the MOS that you want. Once your enlistment (contract) is up, you are free to enlist in the Navy.

A better plan would be to carefully review your choices and decide on the Navy or Marine Corps.

It is custom on RallyPoint to use your real name. From there, you would contact a prior service recruiter for the Navy in conjunction with your career planner. You would be given a re-enlistemnt code, it basically tells the Navy how well you served the Marine Corps. You would have to check with the Navy recruiter to see if you meet their requirements to re-enlist. Since you are going from the Marine Corps to the Navy you would lose very little, much of what you earn in the Corps would transfer. A few ribbons/medals wouldn't, but that isn't a big deal.

The job depends on your ASVAB score and the needs of the Navy, your chosen MOS may be closed to re-enlistment. Never heard of Jarheads becoming squids. The Navy personnel wear the Marine greens and all I have seen are left arm rates.
