I’ve been at Bragg for 3 years, on jump status for 3 also. I’m looking to remain in a Airborne unit, I spoke with my career counselor, and she told me. Since I’m re-enlisting for Option 3 (QM school) that there may not be a guarantee I can stay in a Airborne unit. Spoke with the 92 Y assignment branch. And he told, his department doesn’t handle MOS-T’s and that I can probably get ready to go to Korea. He also informed me that, the only units accepting new ABN personnel were the 173rd and 4-25.
Just want any advice or feedback from anyone who’s ran into a issue like this. How would I go about getting orders as a MOS-T? 2020-01-03T15:39:28-05:00 SGT Private RallyPoint Member 5409384

Currently Reclassing to 92 Y, I’m a paratrooper. There is no such thing as getting orders for MOS-T. You won't be considered MOS-T until after you graduate your new MOS.

120 days prior to AIT start you should receive your follow on assignment instructions. If the Army needs you in an Airborne unit, that is where you will go. HRC Retention Management Team will handle your follow on assignment, your future branch managers input is irrelevant at this point. Don't bother calling HRC for an assignment, all you will do is manage to get your Career Counselor some hate mail in their inbox. The best thing you can do is update your ASK for preferred assignments. If you have a clearance, you can also be stationed in SF Command assignments as well as a 92Y. Again, needs of the Army come first, and if they need you at a leg assignment next that is where you are going. But, on your next move you can always work your way back into the Airborne community.
