How would I go about going from guard to active?

I’ve read several articles and research and I’ve come up with getting a DD368 signed and approved and a minimum of 6 months at my unit. But I have also heard I could go on title 10 orders which is a deployment and in that short time frame I could go active. Any information would help.

I had a buddy that went from guard to active while we were mobilized. It seemed he had an easier time. The first hurdle is talking with your guard unit and seeing if they would agree to release you. because if they won't then anything else is just wasting time.

There are ADOS (active duty orders special works) available for short duration jobs, usually 3 to 9 months and they are often MOS irrelevant. There also generally some state active duty, title 32 stuff like being activated because of Covid 19. The only ways to go permanent full time is either to find an AGR (Active Guard and Reserve) job, or get a DD368 signed off by the first General in the chain of command and enlist in the Army.

I not only switched from the guard to active after one year of service but I am also currently on recruiting duty so allow me to give you the biggest piece of advice possible. Continuously ask every single day or week regarding the status of your 368. If you simply turn it in and wait for approval, it will take months! I would drive to my NG armory every day and ask for a status update. After awhile, the staff knew I would be coming in and would already have the answer waiting for me. No one will take your career more serious than you will. If you show them that you’re serious about it getting signed off on, they will help you out in a big way.
