CW3, would you be asking the question? if so then I will start out with I feel if anyone ask me that question on a phone or job interview, I will tell them that I am that type of different person because I have the tools that I have collected through my 4 years of being and adult. Plus my 20 years of the military has taught me things that you will never get anywhere else, far and wide. It's not about being a leader because in the civilian world you have to start over as a follower and become a leader because in the world it hard going from Leader to Leader. Why Should you Hire Me? I have schools and certifications that a lot of people in this world do not have and when some ask me about security I done all types of security. Now I sit a desk and do security and I looking for the big picture in security and I am still not happy with what I'm doing.

Most focus their responses on their personal view of themselves in which the hiring official is likely looking for your ability to communicate under stress vs. hearing the platitudes they hear all the time. Hopefully you've done some research on the company so you can equate what you bring to the table in terms of them being more capable, reliable, etc. in the money making department. So the question of why should I hire is really what's in it for me? People don't hire unless they see a solution to a long or short term need. Also make sure they're not into cannon fodder hiring mode. That's a good sign of a company that doesn't have a grip.

I post question like these because they are real and potentially be one that you will be asked in an interview. So the best way to be ready for it is to practice in a safe environment where if you want you can receive feedback to help you to answer them better and stronger. I am a military to civilian transition expert and see individuals who struggle with this questions.

This question is usually asked at the end of the interview so by then you understand the employers problem so tailor your answer with your background and experience to solve their problems that is why they should hire you......communicate how you will solve their problem. You can almost summarize your experience to solve their problem.

Try not to throw in new things that was not discussed throughout the interview. Think about when dating and the question is asked why should I give you my number.....why should I go out with you. Think of it as a slow pitch lobbed over the plate for you take it out of the park.

Certainly a fair question.

Simply put, because I have the attention to detail to keep a plane travelling upwards of 150 miles per hour on flight path and at an appropriate altitude while avoiding airborne hazards and land that plane within 50' of a 5 square inch portion of a runway.

Because I can make decisions quickly enough to be trusted to be the first person that an Air Traffic Control tower calls when an aircraft has an airborne emergency, and I'm coolheaded enough to handle all of the information appropriately and make sure that it gets to every agency that needs it within 30 seconds.

Because I'm organised enough to hold the current world record for qualification time at the world's second most difficult Clearance Delivery position, a position where you have to make sure that five different airports have correct flight paths filed with three adjacent centers and clearances through nine adjacent airspaces.

Because I'm responsible enough to have been entrusted, along with my team, with the lives of over 550,000 people over the course of four years.

And because I'm enough of a leader to have successfully qualified nine other people to do each of these things over the course of two and a half years.

Metlife and Old Bank of America both hired me without asking any interview questions. If I can't get another job that way then my question to you is this! Why shouldn't I opt out of the work force? After all I opted out of college when I joined the army.

Turn the tables... ask them to state a clear reason why they would not? Then, when they produce a perceived flaw in your employability, you have opportunity to address the matter.
