Edward I like the attitude because underlying that is part of the question. You should be interviewing the company like they are interviewing you.

I would caution you however to not answer a question with a question....even in a joking matter. You are being accessed until the extend the offer letter to you

Agreed, but it's a time and place situation too. Depends on the type of company you're interviewing for, and the position as well as how the interview is doing. I used this question with my current company, and it worked, but in the technology sector of my company were known for being pretty laid back.

I post question like these because they are real and potentially be one that you will be asked in an interview. So the best way to be ready for it is to practice in a safe environment where if you want you can receive feedback to help you to answer them better and stronger. I am a military to civilian transition expert and see individuals who struggle with this questions.

This question is usually asked at the end of the interview so by then you understand the employers problem so tailor your answer with your background and experience to solve their problems that is why they should hire you......communicate how you will solve their problem. You can almost summarize your experience to solve their problem.

Try not to throw in new things that was not discussed throughout the interview. Think about when dating and the question is asked why should I give you my number.....why should I go out with you. Think of it as a slow pitch lobbed over the plate for you take it out of the park.

And I think it is always important to have the word "self-motivated" on a resume or interview because it is the same as saying "takes initiative" and the last thing a Supervisor wants is a robot or automatron.......and those types are out there. Also, want to mention that you have worked in a team as well as independently. Because that denotes you are flexible with work environment.

Clichés... they hear the same filler from other applicants. You have to have a memorable response that demonstrates the value you have and they need.
