Husband becomes EFMP & denied travel while on leave, en route to Alaska?

Here is the crazy part: EFMP office says there is nothing they can do at this point. Ft Wainwright doesn't have the neurology resources (BTW, neurology and neurosurgery at BAMC, Ft Sam said there is nothing they can do for him). He is not authorized travel to Alaska via military. He refuses to stay in Texas. We are on leave until 1 October when we head on up to Alaska. Everyone I have called and talked to either shame me thinking I am trying to get my orders deleted or tell me, "Alaska is still the U.S.... I don't understand what you're whining about." Do I even know what I'm trying to ask here? Not really.... Everything will eventually be ok, right?

Why don't they reroute you to JBER? They might have the services you are needing and the temperature isn't as drastic as Fairbanks.

We had this happen in a situation where the SM reenlisted for Alaska and received their denial enroute.
Return to your previous duty station. You have not checked into Alaska and so you have not been arrived in your new unit. Return to your old unit, have them re-arrive you. Work with branch for the EFMP deletion. Don't go to reception, you would need orders to inprocess. Simply have your unit arrive you in emilpo. Immediately send up your deletion.
It's going to be a big hassle and half the people will tell you it can't be done. Contact me if you need more help.

If this is a recent issue prior to issuance of your orders you should ask you losing unit if you can get an extension to settle the medical issue. At the very least you deserve that. In the likely event they support but continue your assignment, no one can tell your spouse where he can and cannot go in the US. Keep in mind that if he comes you have no medical support for him, other than what he may have on his own, and you also have housing issues, on or off post. Not an easy situation but one you need to head into with open eyes.

I assume he will be issued new orders to a different location. Remember movement is based on orders.

UPDATE: So, the Army has not changed my orders (nor have I asked them to, I just needed clarification, really, on what to expect) and I am starting to look forward to getting to Alaska. My husband has decided that the Army cannot tell him to leave the United States, so he is going to establish residence in Alaska. My only worry is that my new leadership might see me as an assclown because I didn't tell my spouse to "sit, stay" in Texas while I spent three years in a frozen hell.
