I am currently in the process of submitting a volunteer recruiter packet. If my MOS is balanced, will my branch release me?

Balanced or not, if you meet the prereqs and submit a complete request with all required supporting docs... Pack your bags your going to school. You would have to be in a critically short MOS, to the point the SMA is tracking all 4 of you by name and duty location before that would take priority over DS, & recruiter

From what I understand, DOD is rebounding from a draw down and the recruiting mission has gone up. With an increase in the recruiting budget, that means more recruiters are needed in the field. There will be more NCO's getting that involuntary detailed recruiter notice in the near future. Volunteers approved by USAREC are pretty much automatic to be released by your branch, unless you are in a critically understrength priority MOS. Recruiting IS a priority duty assignment for the Army, especially during periods of increased recruiting mission and USAREC is being plus'ed up with recruiter strength.

Speaking from a few years back as I am retired after 15 years of Army Recruiting, I would say that you stand a good chance of going to Ft Knox for the ARC. Regardless how balanced your MOS is or is not. Recruiting is a must in any branch of service and are needed. Yes, your unit could try to retain you, but USAREC is pretty powerful and besides it is normally just a 3 year tour. Unless of course you want to convert over to 79R full time as I did....good luck Warrior!!
