SPC Private RallyPoint Member 7912569

HRC denied me saying that I'm asking for two incentives; abn school and reclass. My buddy knows someone he reclassed from artillery not being abn qualified prior. They sent him to ABN school then to Rigger AIT. HRC is advising me to re enlist with ABN school and after being at my ABN assignment for a year dropping a voluntary reclass packet but it's not guaranteed I'll be approved. Is this a new HRC rule or do you think they might just be trying to retain me as a Scout? Any input, advice or answers are greatly appreciated. I am in re-enlistment window and want to reclass to 92R; Parachute Rigger. I am not currently Airborne qualified. Why is HRC denying me? 2022-10-04T20:30:54-04:00 SPC Private RallyPoint Member 7912569

HRC denied me saying that I'm asking for two incentives; abn school and reclass. That's very odd, there's even a note in our message book that says to ensure that Soldiers understand Airborne is an additional class required for 92R. HRC Retention team just did a big reshuffle of which people fill which roles. You may want to ask your CC to ask the Opt3 guy to clarify why Airborne is listed as being an additional course in the Training Message from RMT for 92R if it's not authorized.

Be aware though, 92R can be a very demanding job. There are some really awesome great opportunities and some assignments you'll work your butt off. The promotions are also much slower. Most importantly, you better love to jump, most Riggers have over a hundred, often several hundred jumps.
Good luck Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Oct 5 at 2022 12:27 AM 2022-10-05T00:27:10-04:00 2022-10-05T00:27:10-04:00 SFC Private RallyPoint Member 7914810

SFC Private RallyPoint Member is correct in that if you reclass to 92R then HRC WILL send you to ABN school as it's a requirement for the MOS. If HRC is only allowing one or the other then reclass to 92R. Honestly, what they are moist likely trying to count on is that you're a SPC with very likely not a lot of time in service and thus won't know any better. The Army wants to keep you in your current MOS. After getting ABN qualified and spending time at an ABN unit they will say you can't reclass because of some other reason but you should stay in this ABN assignment or switch to the ABN unit and we will do you a solid down the line. This has been a recurring issue with Soldiers dealing with HRC and Branch Managers. I have had similar arguments with HRC previously as well. Ultimately, nobody will advocate for your career better than you, the Army will get what it wants out of you, fight for what you want out of it so that you can leave the Army feeling like you got something for you out of it. If HR. Is saying this then they need airborne scouts more than rigger simple. If what you want has less people than what you are my experience is HRC will find a way. In the matrix you are a series of numbers, Mos, grade, time in service, duty station, etc... Try to figure out which number is the one/s holding you up.
