I am interested in joining the army and pursuing the 35t mos. Should I expect any bonuses for enslisting?

My asvab scores would allow me to get most any job that is available but I am very interested in the 35t mos. I have about 2 years of college credits towards an associate's in computer networking technologies so I would probably go at about e3 rank. The base pay i was showed is not very impressive, but I would love to get the training and army experience. Should I be satisfied with just the base pay or should there be some kind of bonuses for enlisting in this field? I don't know much about the military so any advice would be greatly appreciated

Ask your recruiter if it listed as a critical MOS. If so, there could be an enlistment bonus upon completion of obtaining that MOS.

If you’re joining the Military for great pay, you’re not going to find it. Unless you come in as an officer. Even at that, the starting salary isn’t great depending on what you’re expecting. The thing with bonuses is they are just that. A bonus. They’re an addition to your job or assignment at the time of an enlistment (completion of AIT) or reenlistment. 35T is a great job in the Army that offers multiple computer certifications upon completion of AIT and a top secret clearance as well since it’s an intelligence MOS. The experience, training and certifications alone will pretty much guarantee a great starting job when you get out (if you enlist.) The more experience you have doing that job in the Army, the higher the potential you have for a higher starting wage/salary in a civilian job.

I’d rather have a job that’s going to get me a higher paying salary after the military versus one with a bonus that won’t do much for me after.

I work with 35T since I'm a go(35F) and every time they've reenlisted there's usually a T8-10 bonus due to shortages of them. Ask your recruiter to be sure though :)

it all depends on needs of the army, but for the most part you should get some type of bonus. Make sure you ask your recruiter and make sure the bonus is in your contract before you sign it

35T is the best MOS! Yes I'm biased but as one of the 1,000 soldiers who have this specialization I can say it has its ups and downs. Bonuses and promotions are great compared to a lot of the other MOSs, you are most of the way through a degree with Cochese college when/if you make it through our AIT (more on that later), and with a TS most tangos make great money once they get out. However AIT might kill your soul. Expect a full year at Ft. Huachuca with Drill Sergeants AFTER going through 3 months of basic training. By the time you get out of initial training some of your friends from basic will be coming back from their first deployment. If I had known coming in how awful those first 13 months would be I doubt I would've joined as a Tango but now that I have survived that awful slog no amount of army stupid can bother me.

Final thoughts: Survive 13 months of hell and you will be set for the rest of your life. Just remember that we are still 33s!
